They won't give you a Steam key, I tried myself quoting that it was misold as a Square Store exclusive.
They are not getting jack from me because they already did. That would be exactly the same as if I bought Battlefield 4 on Origin, or any game anywhere for that matter, and then a year later they said "sorry you have to buy another copy".
That would literally never happen. Only with Square I've always hated Square but loved Final Fantasy games. Square for a limited time offered a discount code on future purchases, but you had to ask within a certain time frame which has now passed - no mass emails were sent out informing the affected customers. So because you are on Steam, all DLC purchases must be made on Steam, this means you sadly can't take advantage of discounts elsewhere.
